BNP Paribas Securities (Japan) Limited today announced the appointment of Adrian Averre as Head of IRFX Trading effective from March 1, 2008. As the Head of Trading across Interest Rate Linier Products (IRLP), Options & Structured Products Group (OSPG) and FXH in Tokyo, Mr. Averre will be primarily focusing on increasing the firm’s franchise in the JPY rates trading area, including linear products, vanilla options and libor exotics. He will report locally to Mr. Hikaru Ogata, General Manager and Head of Fixed Income of BNP Paribas Securities Japan, and globally to the IRFX product heads: primarily Mr. Pierre Renom, co-Head of IRLP, and Mr. Guillaume Cornut, Head of OSPG.
Mr. Averre started his career at Paribas in London, then 1996 to 2003 he was part of OSPG in Tokyo as the chief vanilla interest rate option market maker. Mr. Averre then spent three years at JP Morgan in Tokyo, most recently as co-Head of Rates Trading, before moving to Lehman last year as Head of Vanilla Option Trading. Before re-joining to BNP Paribas, he earned a reputation as a top market maker in JPY interest rate options, and brings with him a wealth of experience in dealing with the hedge fund community, as well as with domestic Japanese clients.
Mr. Ogata commented, “BNP Paribas is committed to being the top foreign house in Japan in every aspect of rates trading. With over 10 years of both flow and exotic trading experience in the Tokyo market, Adrian is uniquely qualified to lead the IRFX trading group in Tokyo to reach this goal. Adrian’s appointment is part of our long-standing commitment and ambition in Japan.”
