BNP Paribas Securities strengthens its Equity Research team with the appointment of Shun Maruyama as Chief Japan Equity Strategist and APAC Equity Quantitative Analyst

July 1, 2011 Tokyo — BNP Paribas Securities (Japan) Limited announced that Shun Maruyama has joined the equity research team as Chief Japan Equity Strategist and APAC Equity Quantitative Analyst effective today. BNP Paribas’ Global Equities & Commodity Derivatives offers clients a comprehensive research model covering the Asian markets and Mr. Maruyama will provide analysis of the Japanese stock market as part of the broader Asia-Pacific region.

Kyoya Okazawa, Head of Global Equities & Commodity Derivatives, Japan said, “Shun Maruyama is a leading strategist and quantitative analyst in Japan and we are very pleased to welcome him to BNP Paribas. Shun Maruyama joined Sanwa Research Institute Corporation as an economist after graduating from Waseda University in 2001. He joined Credit Suisse Securities in Japan in 2005 and began quantitative analysis in 2007. He held senior roles as both Japanese Equity Strategist and Quantitative Analyst since 2009.

In 2010, he was ranked #3 Quantitative Analyst by Institutional Investor and Nikkei Veritas, respectively.

As part of expansions in equity research, BNP Paribas announced the hire of Koichi Sugimoto, auto sector analyst and Toyoki Sameshima, bank sector analyst in May.
