Position Purpose
Provide application support for Global banking Applications used by Bank Operations staff and other operation functions of the bank.

Direct Responsibilities


  • Support Global banking payment chain applications for Bank operations users. 
  • Monitor scheduled jobs related to supported applications and services. Monitor system heath and investigate alerts to take necessarily follow-up actions.
  • Investigate issues and report to vendors / regional & global support teams for stabilizing and improving the systems.
  • Manage and Implement system migration as Obsolescence Management and Zengin/BOJ/SWIFT roadmap. 
  • Manage incidents, problems, and changes accordingly to the APS standards. Follow and understand the latest changes/issues on the regional and global systems.
  • Minimize failures and ensure adequate performance and operation of the systems by continuously monitoring the performance⁄ operation, quickly diagnose and address any problems.
  • Conduct system Quality Assurance Testing and assist in User Acceptance test; perform deployment or upgrade of mission critical applications and systems.
  • Provide system and process documentation. Propose and participate to the constant effort to improve the systems.


  • Direct interaction with Business users (Operations and Support) and Domestic Vendors in Japanese
  • Understand business needs and provide/propose feasible and quick solutions to business.
  • Build a good relationship with business and provide regular updates to business located in Japan.
  • Work closely with regional and regional IT teams.
  • Accuracy in judgement and capability to make correct system diagnostic and resolve problems. 


  • Follow ITIL application support methodology to carry out incident and system change management procedures, manage and track daily production problems; ensure effective and timely resolution and 
    communications to the client; coordinate with developer teams to report and follow through with bug fixing.
  • Direct contribution to BNP Paribas operational permanent control framework; Adhere to documentation standards.
  • Vendor management

Contributing Responsibilities

  • Shifts from 08:00AM JST.
  • Perform ad hoc weekend work (DR drill, weekend maintenance and releases), on a rotation basis.
  • Occasional business trips to Osaka for system maintenance

Technical & Functional

  • Financial knowledge: Swift, Transaction banking, Japanese banking systems, payment chain lifecycle.
  • Development: Shell and PowerShell, SQL, Excel, VBA
  • Platform: Windows and Linux
  • System & Tools: WBANK, ZENGIN, YCS, Geneos & Dynatrace, Autosys, ServiceNow, Excel, JIRA
  • Technologies: Databases (Oracle & MSSql), Network (basic knowledge)


  • Highly motivated, Quick learner and self-starter 
  • Ability to work independently and work collaboratively within the team.
  • Strong desire to investigate and resolve issues in the short term (workaround / setting up procedure) and longer term (participate to the definition of proper fix)
  • Inquisitive and structured mind to follow up simultaneously multiple supports issues.
  • Interest to work in Banking & Financial IT and learn related business.
  • Understand users’ needs and convert them to IT requirements.
  • Accuracy in judgement and capability to make correct system diagnostic and resolve problems.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex tasks while delivering high quality results. 

Specific Qualifications (if required)

  • Fluent in English and Japanese (mandatory)
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent 
  • 5+ years of work experience in IT financial industry (Payment systems)
